The stylish DJ has just joined the high profile Next Models roster, signing a contract with the company to spearhead the new phase in her career.
Since signing a management deal with Roc Nation, Solo has already been the face of multiple campaigns including Rimmel London, Armani Jeans and most recently Carol’s Daughter along with Cassie and Selita Ebanks Now, she will be taking her career to the next level with Next, which is also the has her good friend Theophilus London on their roster.

Solange, Selita, and Cassie are the new ambassadors and spokeswomen for Carol’s Daughter (CD). Steve Stoute, chairman and lead investor in Carol’s Daughter, tells TheYBF.com today in an exclusive statement:
“I am so happy and proud to have Solange, Cassie and Selita join the Carol’s Daughter family. They, together with Lisa Price, Mary J Blige and Jada Pinkett Smith, share our passion of bringing beauty to a variety of skin tones and hair textures.”
In their new role, the fab chicks are working to redefine the color of beauty. Selita said in today’s WWD:
“Carol’s Daughter doesn’t have just one direct demographic. Solange‘s hair is a different texture than mine. So is Cassie’s. Our skin and body types are different. Today, people are blended. And I think the three of us are a prime example. Women in my family range from vanilla to the deepest chocolate.”
Via Rap-up.com: Solange Knowles gets charitable with the dreamy track “Kenya,” recorded with Twin Shadow and Grizzly Bear’s Chris Taylor. The tune and its accompanying video, which shows the three acts in the studio, are intended to raise money and awareness for the global water crisis as part of RAIN, The Coca-Cola Africa Foundation’s Replenish Africa Initiative. All proceeds from the song’s sales will go to water provisions in African countries and republics including Rwanda, Uganda, and Cameroon.
“To me it inspires hope when it’s more upbeat and spirited, and I think that that is what the conversation should be about,” says Solange of the charitable record.

But at last night’s Roberto Cavalli party, you could almost forget the price-tags. An oversized spiral staircase separated the unabashed browsers below from the crowd above, who swayed to Solange Knowles’ mix of Yacht and Salt-n-Peppa. “It’s sort of been love at first spin for me—Q-Tip gave me my first lessons,” starts an electric Solange, wearing a sheer animal print blouse and an ecrue ankle-grazing skirt-pant on the occasion. “I hope everyone below can’t see right up this thing!” After her brother and larger-than-life sister bought her a DJ’ing set a year ago, the wild-haired chanteuse has been really getting into it. This is only the first of five NYFW parties—including BET’s Rising Icons, Jay Z’s afterparty, and the GQ-Rocawear event—where she’ll DJ.
Despite a spattering of leopard and python stools, the yacht-ready crowd stood on either side of a well-secured velvet rope that separated Solange and the VIP crowd from, well, the others. A voice-resting Debra Cox (doctor’s orders) side-stepped in the former area, periodically whispering to her hairdresser, alongside a gliding Miss Universe. Despite a blip with the sound equipment and a low-performance a/c, the event kept rocking within the leopard-loving walls. “Right now I’m really, really into prints. Mixing ankara and African and Kenyan patterns with really minimalist, modern pieces.” After her set, Solange plans to hit the Opening Ceremony party. She’s going to take it easy this week–check out one or two shows, maybe even sleep in. “I’m actually most excited about Jeremy Scott. He’s a good friend of mine, and he’s so excited, and now I’m so excited, and I just can’t wait.”
